The HSE has announced its support for the events and activities launched for this year's European Week for Health and Safety at Work campaign (Euroweek 2006).

The HSE has announced its support for the events and activities launched for this year's European Week for Health and Safety at Work campaign (Euroweek 2006).

This year's campaign slogan is 'Safe Start' and is dedicated to the occupational safety and health of young people.

Euroweek itself is from 23 ? 27 October 2006 and many events and activities are being run during or around that week to support it.

As with previous years, participation is at the heart of Euroweek, which is designed to raise awareness of occupational safety and health issues.

The various events are aimed at a range of stakeholders including: young people themselves, employers, parents and supervisors of young people.

Jason Batt, Project Manager for the UK campaign commented: "Euroweek 2006 is an ideal opportunity for HSE and its partners to raise awareness on the occupational safety and health issues facing young people".

"They are the future of our business, society and the economy and it is important that we do not make them risk averse".

"We need them to understand what is meant by sensible health and safety." Further details on the events and activities for Euroweek 2006 can be found on the HSE website at: www.hse.gov.uk/campaigns/euroweek/index.htm.
