A HSE Health and Safety Executive product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Feb 26, 2007

Health and Safety Executive's (HSE) management and use of science has been commended by the Government's Chief Scientific Adviser, Sir David King.

In a report published today the Health and Safety Executive's (HSE) management and use of science has been commended by the Government's Chief Scientific Adviser, Sir David King.

The report reviews HSE's recent work to strengthen its management systems for commissioning research and its open publication system in addition to recognising that, where appropriate, HSE is prepared to challenge established orthodoxy regarding the science supporting health and safety issues, both nationally and internationally, e.g in relation to ladder stability.

The report accredits HSE for developing, conducting and using high-quality, groundbreaking, well-reviewed scientific evidence to support its position, and engaging in external debate of the findings and implications.
