The Heidenhain rotary encoder programme now includes a compact range of protected units for use in hazardous locations.

Many machines and industrial plants for the manufacture, storage, transportation, and processing of flammable liquids are exposed to gases, vapors or mists that, together with oxygen in the air, can create an explosive atmosphere.

The housing of the explosion-proof encoders are just 58 mm diameter and are only slightly longer than standard encoders.

Available in industrial standard mounting versions, including clamping or synchro-flange, they can also be specified with hollow shaft and stator coupling.

The encoders transmit the measuring signals in TTL or HTL levels, or as 1-Vpp sinusoidal signals and fulfil the requirements of IEC 60 079 or EN 50 014/50 018/50 019.

Flameproof type of protection is with explosion class IIC.

Temperature class is +1150C.
