Redesign ruggedises rotary encoders

Heidenhain controls and scales for turbine EDM
The use of Heidenhain's TNC 416 contouring control system and linear and rotary encoders on a customised five-axis electro-discharge machine (EDM) for turbine blade bleed holes.
Specifically, the acceleration load capacity has increased significantly.
All ROD 400s with a cable exit can handle vibrations up to 300m/s2 and shock loads up to 2000m/s2 allowing them to function under extreme operating conditions.
These encoders also feature a universal cable exit that can be configured for either an axial or radial application.
This enhancement reduces the number of variants thus simplifies the ordering process and increases availability.
Also, realising the importance of available space, the overall encoder length of the ROD/ERN 400 series has been reduced for all variants with a flange socket, allowing the user to take advantage of the smaller size whether using a flange socket or cable.
Finally, for the blind hollow shaft or through-shaft, the new design of these encoders features an improved shaft clamping mechanism for easier and more effective mounting.
