Following the successful introduction of Heidenhain's ND 780 multifeature digital readout system during 2006, the company has introduced a new linear encoder for application on manual machines.

The new LS388C is now being offered with new Heidenhain DRO systems.

The key user-benefits of the LS388C are a 1V peak-peak interface, which offers better electrical noise immunity that when combined with the existing amplitude control within the encoder, ensures high quality signals over the lifetime of the encoder.

The unit also has the ability to cater for a 50% drop in power supply.

For retrofit applications, where the mounting options may be restricted Heidenhain has expanded the mounting tolerances to accommodate even the most badly worn guideways.

Heidenhain's latest digital readout system, the ND 780 is suitable for milling and turning machines, setting new standards in this sector of the digital readout market.

ND 780 is equipped as standard with an LCD screen and is available with two or three axis capability.

Milling and turning operations are simplified thanks in part to the screen-driven operation and graphical and text help screens.

Presented on an LCD screen, which is a first for DROs in this range, the conversational programming, positioning readout, dialogue and input displays are easy to read and understand.
