Bearings help take the kick out of
shooting
Excessive and repetitive recoil nearly put an end to Dave Izzard's international shooting career but rather than be defeated, he got even.
Excessive and repetitive recoil nearly put an end to Dave Izzard's international shooting career but rather than be defeated, he got even He applied his engineering skills to the design and production of the ISIS recoil damper which not only allowed him to continue as a high ranking FITASC shot but also to start a new business venture with great potential

Screw jacks resist moisture and chemicals
The Z-series of screw jacks is available in a variety of sizes for lifting requirements up to 25kN and in four standard variants.
Specifically designed for 24 to 36g loads, the ISIS recoil system provides smooth linear deceleration when the shot is fired.
And to keep this mechanical movement as controlled as possible throughout the unit's entire stroke, Izzard chose to include Hepco's Pacific Simplicity linear bearings.
Izzard's aim was to design an hydraulic recoil device that could be fitted to semi-automatic shotguns as well as over-and-under stocks.
It had to be compact, lightweight, reliable and robust.
The resultant ISIS system features a miniature shock absorber which is a self-compensating device.
Extremely hard and polished shafts pass through a pair of high precision Pacific Simplicity linear bushings.
Widely known for their ability to operate effectively in the most arduous conditions, these bearings are maintenance-free and will not catastrophically fail.
They ensure smooth linear operation even when the recoil pressure is not central to the butt plate of the gun.
Izzard explains, "This occurs when shooting low or high targets giving an uneven pressure to either the 'toe' or the 'heel' of the stock".
When fitted, the entire ISIS recoil damper weighs just 280g and has an expected operating life of many millions of cycles.
Promotional material asserts it is 'designed for maximum efficiency and engineered for a lifetime' and Hepco is pleased that its bearings are making a significant contribution to this description. Request a free brochure from HepcoMotion ...
