Hepcomotion reports strong growth in 2008

A Hepcomotion product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Feb 25, 2009

Hepcomotion saw strong growth in 2008, despite the slowdown of the world economy.

The linear-motion specialist exceeded its own target by 5 per cent and many of its international sales subsidiaries reported significant growth.

France grew by 30 per cent, followed by Germany at 18 per cent.

In terms of distributor markets, Italy's order intake went up by 20 per cent, while North America's intake increased by 13 per cent.

Sales of core linear-motion products remained strong and systems ended the year as one of the company's biggest growth areas.

Ancillary products such as Winkel rails and bearings, Zimm screwjacks and the Hepcomotion machine construction system (MCS) also contributed to sales, particularly in the UK.

Substantial investment in research and development continues to pay dividends and in 2009 Hepcomotion will be introducing a range of products intended to meet changing market needs.

In line with product development, Hepcomotion said that it is continuing to invest in its manufacturing capability.

Last year it created a large systems build area within its Tiverton factory to increase capacity for this sector of its business.

Hepcomotion is planning a further capital investment programme throughout its manufacturing sites for 2009.

This will be complemented by other measures and further commitment to cellular manufacturing to achieve optimum flexibility and minimum lead times.
