Hexatec has unveiled the latest version of its Scada web software, Saturn OPC for Process Control, now available in three easy to understand configurations: Lite, Standard and Professional.

Saturn is probably the world's first, off-the-web industrial automation software that is suitable for a whole range of factory and process control applications.

Whether a simple HMI or manufacturing management system is needed, Saturn links seamlessly with other core business software such as back office, providing a powerful management tool that will view and report on production processes effortlessly.

It provides a direct upgrade path for existing users with a host of new features.

Richard Haycock, director of Hexatec said, "We have developed this latest version of Saturn in response to customer feedback.

For instance, it is now available in three configurations, Lite, Standard and Professional, to make it much easier for customers to select the right package for their needs".

The new installation consists of improved support tools and tutorials making it a lot quicker and easier to develop and test Saturn configurations.

Following enhancements made to the ADO database object in Saturn users can include detailed real-time production information such as quality, volumes and stockholding in corporate information systems.

Users can create more eye-catching displays with the new toolbar objects allowing specific object styles to be created such as checkbox buttons and the new cursor selection for individual drawing objects.

Saturn now has serial port support which can be used to link to external devices such as barcode readers and outstations without the need to purchase or create an OPC server.

This solves the problem of communicating with older and smaller pieces of equipment where an OPC driver is unavailable.

In fact, as Saturn is already an OPC server, it is quite possible to use Saturn to create an OPC server to talk to other software.

Those interested in the latest version of Saturn OPC can download it from the Hexatec website without paying a penny.

Hexatec is the first company in its sector to provide full development software free of charge, so customers need not part with any money until they are absolutely sure that Saturn is the right solution for them.

Once satisfied, they can purchase a runtime license online.
