Plastic components and cable accessories supplier Heyco has developed a novel range of durable rubber snap-in protection grommets.
Plastic components and cable accessories supplier Heyco has developed a novel range of durable rubber snap-in protection grommets.
The new grommets come in ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM), silicone, chloroprene (CR) and thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) rubbers providing extra protection against extreme environmental conditions including temperature, light and oil.
Heyco's snap-in protection grommets grip and guide cables and pipes into installation cabinets, through walls or other thin plates or sheets.
The unique design enables more consistent clamping on the cable or pipe and provides superior protection to conventional diaphragm rubber grommets.
The snap-in grommets feature a rear lip which is rolled inwards when the cable is pulled back, locking the cable, and preventing it from being pulled through.
This rolling action makes a tight seal which protects against water ingress and dust to an IP67 class.
Tightness is maintained even if the cable moves laterally a key advantage over conventional diaphragm rubber grommets.
Traditional designs tend to allow a gap to open up on the opposite side if the cable or pipe moves laterally, reducing grip and risking leakage.
Heyco's snap-in grommets all provide a high level of weather, ozone and light resistance.
EPDM and silicone versions provide additional high-heat resistance.
Silicone is particularly resistant to high and low temperatures (working temperature range -50 to +200C).
CR rubber also has a moderate resistance to oil.
