Plastic components and cable accessories supplier Heyco has introduced two new types of fasteners to its comprehensive range.

Plastic components and cable accessories supplier Heyco has introduced two new types of fasteners to its comprehensive range.

NY-Cage nuts and Metal Turn-In Cage nuts are ideal for a wide range of applications including automotive and domestic appliances.

Easily installed, the fasteners offer time savings over conventional weld-nuts/studs and rivet nuts.

Heyco's NY-Cage nuts consist of a nylon supporting cage and sliding steel nut or stud component and once installed all the tensile loading is taken by the steel nut or stud.

The nylon surround of the fastener offers protection against electrolytic corrosion when assembling panels of different metallic materials.

The range is available to suit three different mounting hole profiles: square holes; rectangular holes which are ideal when compensating for variations in alignment; and round holes with two square key profiles for a more positive location when installed.

The Heyco Metal Turn-In Cage nut consists of a spring steel supporting cage and sliding nut component and are suitable for round holes with two square key profiles.

The all-metal parts are ideal for high temperature, and more heavy duty applications.

"No special tooling is required for assembly as both fasteners can be simply and rapidly installed with a quarter turn action by hand", says Andrew Fletcher, Technical Director, Heyco.

"This offers considerable time savings for the OEM during installation as there is no need to rivet or weld in place".

"They are also ideal for use when access to the panel hole is restricted to one side only, for example, when installing into a blind hole in square tube section".

The fasteners can accommodate a wide range of panel sizes and parts are available in male or female threads to fit standard M6 and M8 sizes.
