A new range of welded and fabricated polypropylene fans is especially suitable for longer life when handling aggressive gases.

Halifax Fan specialises in centrifugal fans for corrosive gases, and enjoys a strong reputation for bespoke solutions Now Halifax has broken new ground by designing and manufacturing a new range of welded and fabricated polypropylene fans, especially suitable for longer life when handling aggressive gases

The new range is based on the existing fan range, covers a wide range of physical sizes and will offer duties up to 50,000m3/h and pressures up to 5kPa.

Fan casings are fabricated from copolymer black polypropylene, embossed on the exterior surface to increase durability and scratch resistance, with the impeller removable from either the inlet or drive side of the case.

The welded and balanced impellers are fabricated from a superior grade homopolymer, secured to the shaft via a machined polypropylene centre boss.

Overall, the tough rigid polypropylene construction is resistant to attack by a wide range of acids, alcohols, aldehydes, oils, esters, ketones, hydrocarbons and other aggressive media.

The new plastic material offers significant advantages in lightness and cost over more traditional stainless steel and nickel alloy alternatives, which makes them particularly suitable for rooftop, fume extraction and other elevated installations.

In some cases the new plastic versions are less than half the weight of traditional metal alternatives.

Halifax has made significant investment in tooling and will manufacture the range, which covers three backward inclined options and also radial blowers at its Brighouse factory.

Halifax's significant strength in being able to offer tailor-made application engineered variants in addition to the standard ranges, sets it above most of the plastic fan market.

Elevated ambient temperature operation can be offered as well as pressure tight models.

Belt and direct driven alternatives, universally handed cases plus a wide range of options make for total bespoke flexibility.

Particularly important is the low noise profile of these new fans.

Based on almost 50 years knowledge and experience of industrial fans, Halifax has designed these new fans to meet today's demanding noise legislation in industrial environments.

Efficiency, too, has been a critical focus in the design process.

Halifax tests all its fans in-house and guarantees the performance to BS848 part 1:1980 within class B.

Consequently, this new range offers optimum energy efficiency that will help users to offset rising energy costs as well as the penalty of the Climate Change Levy.
