HID reports that since launching the Hitachi range of HMIs (human/machine interfaces) into the UK in the middle of last year, all eleven models in the range have exceeded the company's sales expectations.

Indeed, the anticipated targets have been exceeded by about 32%.

HID's national sales manager, Stuart Harvey, believes there are a number of reasons for this.

"Firstly, Hitachi's industrial products have a great reputation for both performance and reliability", Mr Harvey explained, "secondly there is substantial growth in the use of operator interfaces on machines that once relied solely on knobs and button.

Thirdly, there is the ease with which the Hitachi HMIs can be installed into machines".

The eleven models in the Hitachi EH-HMI series, include text and graphics displays as well as touch panels, which allow users to select the best technical and economical solution for an application.

All the panels are programmable with easy to use EH-View software, which can be learned very easily without the need for training.

The EH-HMIs have high resolution graphic displays which are clear to read, even in bright lighting conditions.

They are dust and splash proof to IP65 and their compact size saves on installation or panel space.

Compatible as standard with all Hitachi PLCs and inverters, the EH-HMIs also have drivers for Siemens S5 and S7 and Groupe Schneider PLCs.

All common fieldbus interfaces are included and the EH-Micros have recipe capability, alarm processing and trending facilities.

The HMIs can also be adapted to customer specifications.

The EH-View software is a Windows-based application with a flexible and intuitive editor for creating bespoke operator panels for specific machines.

Text, graphics, variables, touch cells and other elements are easy to add, to create a system which is tailored to the application and simple to use.

In large applications a network of the Hitachi HMIs can be installed and a data exchange network among panels and PLCs is easy to set up.
