Safety controller company expands into Italy

A Hima Paul Hildebrandt product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team May 15, 2007

Logitec Automazione has been actively representing HIMA in Italy since 1987 in the area of safety-related controllers, an area which will now be further expanded.

In April 2007 HIMA Paul Hildebrandt established HIMA Italia.

The Italian market is a significant international platform for the company.

Logitec Automazione has been actively representing HIMA in Italy since 1987, and there it has achieved the position of market leader in the area of safety-related controllers, an area which will now be further expanded.

The HIMA Italia service portfolio includes the sale of safety-related automation solutions, project management, engineering and training.

Ronald Emig is the sole administrator of the new subsidiary.

The new 160m2 offices in Vimercate near Milan provide sufficient room for further personnel expansion.

In the past 20 years, HIMA has installed approximately 500 safety systems in Italy and, in the same period, has also sold almost the same amount in other countries via Italian contractors.

With a market share of over 70%, HIMA is market leader in Italy in the core business of chemicals and petrochemicals as well as oil and gas.

The end customers include, amongst others, Agip, API, ENEL, ENI and SASOL as well as systems integrators and Italian contractors, who deliver to non-European end customers.

HIMA develops and manufactures products and solutions for safety-related automation tasks for the process and manufacturing industries.

HIMA-solutions are used for applications up to SIL 4 (IEC 61508) or Kat.

4 (EN 954).

These include emergency shutdown systems (ESD), fire and gas systems (FandG), burner management systems (BMS) as well as high-integrity pressure protection systems (HIPPS) and application solutions for conveyor systems, presses, paint shops, body welding facilities, assembly systems and lifts.

The construction of safety-related, networked applications is made possible using safe Ethernet.
