The RG2-1TX is a new rail gateway product that allows most electronic devices with a serial interface to be connected to an Ethernet network at low cost.

The RG2-1TX is a DIN-rail mountable rail gateway Ethernet to serial interface that has been designed to connect older systems and devices to Ethernet networks, using the plug-and-play principle.

The RG2-1TX conforms to all the relevant industrial standards and incorporates an RJ45 connection as well as an RS232/RS485 interface.

Information on the device status and network status is indicated using LEDs.

In addition, it also has a redundant 24V power supply to ensure high availability.

The rail gateway is the latest product in Hirschmann's Industrial Line product family which also includes various hubs, switches and transceivers.

These, together with the MACH 3000 backbone switch, ensure that Hirschmann provides a comprehensive product offer for uniform datacommunication in an industrial environment using Ethernet: from the control centre level, through the controller level, down to the field level.
