Sigmatek Europe found Weldex 2003 to be a great success, gaining at least two new customers as a result of the show.

Sigmatek Europe, the leading provider of Sigmanest nesting software for laser, oxyfuel, plasma, waterjet, turret punch and routing machines found Weldex 2003 to be a great success, gaining at least two new customers as a result of the show Sigmanest software features include the ability to quickly and easily create detailed drawings and efficient nested part layouts, as well as maximise production and inventory control

The advantages of true shape nesting given by the software allow users to reduce remnant material inventory, speed up NC programming, improve material utilisation and improve time and cost estimates.

After a visit to Sigmatek's Weldex stand, digger manufacturer Katmex invested in four full seats of Sigmanest SNW303.

This has given it full control over the plate metal coming into the factory and the remnants it produces.

The company cuts up 70 tonnes of steel per day to produce various components for its range of diggers.

As a result of purchasing the Sigmanest software, Katmex has made a 8% material saving and a 30% time saving on production.

Another success story for Sigmatek, again resulting from a visit to its Weldex stand, was with tractor cab manufacturer Airflow Streamlines.

The company, which produces tractor cabs for JCB/Caterpillar vehicles, has a 24-hour production line and required a nesting solution for four Trumpf laser cutters and a Trumpf punching machine.

Sigmatek installed a Powerpack SNW303 to produce the programs and to give accurate production cutting times.

This has meant the company can forward plan its production needs and Sigmatek is currently working with it to reduce production times further, enabling it to free up at least an extra shift per week.

Manufacturing Manager of Airflow Streamlines, Alex Thompson, feels that Sigmatek has proved its weight in gold: "Our visit to their stand at Weldex was fortuitous as the Sigmanest software has meant we have saved 5% on material and a 30% overall saving".

"In real terms, this represents a GBP 900,000 saving in resources in a year".

"We also saw a return on our initial outlay within just 2 weeks".

Sigmatek Europe Area Sales Manager, Graham Doveston, is overjoyed with the results gained from exhibiting at Weldex 2003.

"These new customers are just two examples of the lucrative deals secured at Weldex - and we are still working on other leads".

"The show was a great success for our company and we will definitely be exhibiting at Weldex 2006".
