Hawke International has achieved type approval from the American Bureau of Shipping for its complete range of hazardous area cable glands for use in marine applications.

Hawke International, the hazardous area electrical connection specialist, has achieved type approval from the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) for its complete range of hazardous area cable glands for use in marine applications.

This approval covers electrical equipment for use in areas where the presence of gas or dust creates a potential for explosions and it is in addition to existing certification from international authorities including Baseefa, GOST, UL, CEPEL and CSA.

It will provide users with additional reassurance when selecting Hawke International's cable glands for use in ABS listed offshore oil and gas installations and FPSO vessels.

Hawke's Managing Director, James Phillips commented: "Our cable glands are safety critical products used in extreme environments to protect equipment from ingress by moisture and to prevent the ignition of potentially explosive gas and dust".

"The ABS approval is a valuable further endorsement of our capability to protect life and capital assets".
