Shaft system simplifies marine
transmission
The BOSS bolt on shaft system dramatically reduces assembly times by removing the need for accurate shaft alignment, which in turn affects vibration and noise.
Seatorque Control Systems has appointed H4 Marine to represent its award winning shaft system in the UK The BOSS (bolt on shaft system) has won design and innovation awards at METs and IBEX

Maritex is a fibre re-inforced resin composite that has now proven itself in the most demanding of applications.
The system simplifies manufacturing, improves performance and eliminates drive train vibration and noise, with only 2% mechanical losses.
BOSS dramatically reduces assembly times by removing the need for accurate shaft alignment, which in turn affects vibration and noise.
In real terms this means the shaft system is cost effective and reduces factory time for shaft drive builds.
The system can replace a standard shaft installation for engines up to 3000hp and 6in shafts with little or no modification to the hull, mouldings or transmission components.
Typical gains in performance are around 8% - or greater than the difference between a D11-670 and a D12-715 engine.
Reducing the number of components helps with build times and service requirements, removing the need for a stern gland/seal, stern gland plumbing and cutless bearings.
From a customer or user perspective the system provides increased performance for a given engine setup, greatly reduced noise and vibration from the drive train, less maintenance and no reliance on complex control systems.
Seatorque will also come as standard with a quicKutter rope cutter designed to suit this drive and having no effect on performance.
H4 Marine will be exhibiting the Seatorque BOSS system at this years Seaworks show in Southampton.
