Sensor, switch and relay manufacturer Hamlin Electronics is launching a new range of MOSFET output solid-state relays and optical sensors at Electronica 2004.

The new range compliments the company's extensive portfolio of reed relays and sensors and extends the sensing solutions it can offer its customers.

The HEA range of MOSFET solid-state relays consist of one- and two-pole form A (normally open), form B (normally closed) and combination form A and B relays.

Solid-state relays are often found in telecommunications and data communications systems.

They are also found in industrial applications, such as in programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and in security products where they can be used for alarm or sensor switching.

Solid-state relays offer a number of advantages over electromechanical components.

They offer fast, silent, bounce free contact or contacts, in a small package and with no mechanical wear.

The 53085 series optical sensor is a PCB mounted vane sensor with a 4.2mm sensing gap.

Optical sensors also provide a fast, bounce free, reliable sensing operation and are often found in office equipment, such as in copiers and printers.

The HEA and 53085 series sensors will be available through Hamlin's extensive sales and distributor network in Europe and North America.

Marcel Briers, Hamlin's global director of sales and marketing, said: "We are delighted to be launching this range of new products at Electronica".

"Hamlin has worked hard to bring to market a range of competitively priced products that enable us to extend the switching and sensing solutions we offer our customers and distributors".

Hamlin's strategy is to broaden its technology portfolio.

In 2003 the company signed a worldwide co-operation agreement with Micronas under which Hamlin has special access to Micronas' expertise in the field of programmable Hall effect technology.

The two companies work closely on numerous projects.
