Hall effect geartooth sensor suits automotive uses
Hamlin Electronics Europe has launched a new Hall Effect geartooth sensor designed specifically for automotive applications
The 55505 incorporates an industry standard housing which includes a mounting flange and brass bushing.
The device is suitable for a broad range of applications in the automotive industry including wheel, transmission and camshaft speed sensing.
Hamlin has incorporated solid state Hall Effect technology into the sensor which has no moving parts.
This makes it particularly robust and reliable when operating in harsh automotive environments.
The sensor is capable of high speed operation, up to 15kHz.
It will provide an almost immeasurable number of operations even when operating in the harshest conditions.
The sensor has no chopper delay and the direction of rotation is not critical for sensing.
Peak detection, peak hold and level compensation are all performed digitally.
The sensor also has a self adjusting magnetic range of up to 4mm that will detect ferrous teeth on rotating gears and is immune to target run out and zero speed operation.
The 55505 has built-in automotive grade circuit protection that will safeguard it against short circuit and reverse voltage being applied.
Also incorporated in the device is a sophisticated 10-bit A/D converter.
The sensor has a digital switch, three wire, voltage output and a range of cable lengths can be specified from 100mm to 1,000mm.
These can be terminated with a selection of connector types.
Custom versions are also available.
