Hoffman reintroduces its improved Proline DataCom Configurator, an online design and management tool for data cabinets.

Accessed through the company's website, the Configurator guides users intuitively through four simple steps to quickly and easily configure custom cabinets with features to meet their specific needs.

"After introducing the Configurator over a year ago, we've found ways to strengthen this tool to better support data communication consultants, contractors, specifiers and data centre facilities managers to help them obtain needed solutions for their data network and communication centres", said Brian Mordick, RCDD, Hoffman's Senior Product Manager for DataCom.

"The Configurator is designed to enable users to create and save a variety of different configurations for multiple projects and to easily share them with others".

Users follow a series of pull down menus to select rack size, cabinet doors, sides, bases and tops as well as rack angles and finish.

The cabinet builds on the screen as the selections are made.

When completed and reviewed, cabinet configurations and the associated bill of materials can be saved, printed or emailed as PDF files to others.

In addition to the more streamlined selection system, new features include more frame sizes, additional options for doors and sides and a broader selection of paint colours and finishes.

Customer installed accessories is a new feature that allows customers to select options, such as cable management, thermal management, and power distribution accessories, to ship with their cabinet for installation on-site.

"We believe that aside from its ease of use, Hoffman's Configurator will be tremendously convenient because it's a web-based tool".

"Users can access their configurations anywhere and at any time," Mordick said.

"The Configurator provides Hoffman's published list price to help users instantly get a quote for planning purposes".

"Additionally, users can click a link on the Configurator to contact Hoffman directly via e-mail".

Configurator joins a complete library of downloadable Visio stencils and CAD files as a cadre of powerful design tools that make specification easy.
