Houghton has been awarded a contract from DePuy International for the metal cutting fluids at the company's Leeds production unit.

DePuy International, a Johnson and Johnson Company, is a leading designer, manufacturer and distributor of orthopaedic devices and supplies including hip, knee, shoulder and ankle replacements.

The decision was taken to switch to Hocut 3380 for all its metal cutting procedures after excellent performance of the product was demonstrated at the DePuy plant in Cork, Ireland.

Houghton will also supply Citrisurf 2250, which will be used for the cleaning and passivation of all metal products.

The high performance and nonstaining characteristics of Hocut 3380 make it ideal for manufacturing metal products, such as joint implants.

The low foaming milky emulsion uses chlorine-free high performance lubricity agents to give superior surface finish and tooling performance.

Citrisurf 2250 was chosen thanks to its cost effective and safe metal passivating properties.

Regular service visits will be made by Houghton engineers to ensure the condition of the fluids is maintained to a high level and to provide support and expertise to ensure best practice management of the fluids.
