Tube company chooses new lubricant supplier

A Houghton UK product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team May 7, 2007

Caparo previously used Shell fluids but the decision was recently made to switch to Houghton products.

Caparo Tubes in South Wales has chosen Houghten to supply Rust Veto 100D and Houghto-Roll ST30.

Caparo Tubes has three manufacturing divisions in the UK, each concentrating on different product areas.

The plant in Tredegar, South Wales concentrates on the volume markets for structural hollow sections and tubes for low-pressure gas/liquid applications.

The Tredegar division is also equipped with spiral welding facilities for the production of large diameter pipe.

Caparo previously used Shell fluids but the decision was recently made to switch to Houghton products.

Rust Veto 100D is a light mineral oil based rust preventive, incorporating effective corrosion inhibitors and dewatering additives.

It is ideal for the protection of steel tubes and can provide 6 to 9 months corrosion resistance in dry storage conditions.

Houghto-Roll ST30 is a synthetic, biodegradable rolling oil, specifically designed for tube forming operations where unpickled hot rolled steel coil is processed, making it the ideal product for use at Caparo Tubes.

Regular service visits will be made by Houghton engineers to ensure the condition of the fluids are maintained to a high level and to provide support and expertise to ensure best practice.

Terry Watkins (Quality Manager), Caparo Tubes comments, "We look forward to working with Houghton in the future".

''Having supplied Caparo Tubes for many years in the past, it's great that we can re-establish our supply partnership", commented Rob Davey (Technical Sales Representative), Houghton.
