Low foaming emulsion gives superior surface finish

A Houghton UK product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Aug 4, 2008

Hocut 3380 has performed extremely well in trials at Biomet, reducing the volume used by extending the life within the machine sumps.

Houghton has recently been awarded new business at Biomet in Bridgend.

Biomet are a world leader in the manufacturing of orthopaedic joints and have been trialling Hocut 3380 since last August.

The product has performed extremely well, reducing the volume used by extending the life within the machine sumps.

It has passed all validation tests stipulated by Biomet and will now replace their old product, with orders being handled by one of Houghton's distributors, Chemical Corporation.

Hocut 3380 is a low foaming milky emulsion which gives superior surface finish and tooling performance.

It is ideal for machining automotive aluminium, titanium, inconel and alloy steels due to its nonstaining characteristics.

It is specifically designed for high pressure coolant systems associated with modern CNC machine tools with ultra-long life and freedom from biocide additions, making it suitable for both centralised systems and single-sump machines.

John Lewis, Health and Safety Manager, Biomet comments: "We have been overwhelmed by the products' performance and the support provided by the Houghton team during the course of the trial".

Rob Davey, Business Development Manager, Houghton adds: "As a recognised leader in the field we knew that Biomet would require a high quality product with an excellent track record and we had no hesitation that Hocut 3380 would be the right product and the extensive testing carried out by Biomet confirmed this".
