New from Hohner Corp, the 55 series hollow-shaft low-current intrinsically safe encoder is aimed at equipment for use in the oil and gas industry, pharmaceutical equipment and mining equipment.

The 55 is certified to Cenelec and UL standards, IS Classification for II IG EEx ia IIC T4 (-20 to +60C).

The encoder can be used in non-mining areas where gases, vapours and mists in hydrogen class 1 situations may be present.

The 55 is also certified for IS classification for I MI EEx ia I (-20 to +60C) for use in mining areas where methane gas may be present.

The US certification is IS standard UL913 for division 1 and 2 class 1 group A, B, C and D.

The 55 complies with the Atex directive, SIRA 00ATEX2126X.

It's certified IP64 so the encoder is protected against contact with live or moving parts within the enclosure and will allow no observable ingress of dust.

Splashing water from any direction has no harmful effect.

With all of the necessary certifications, rugged and dependable, the 55 is designed to be used in current or voltage modes making it a versatile and inexpensive option for the user.
