Honeywell Industrial Automation and Control has announced options for modernising the Data Hiway, a previous generation control network widely used by plants in the process industries.

Honeywell Industrial Automation and Control has announced options for modernising the Data Hiway, a "previous generation" control network widely used by plants in the process industries.

They are part of a series of options that allow users to select capabilities that best suit their long-term automation plans, process needs and budget.

The flexibility and magnitude of choice in these options demonstrates Honeywell's commitment to "Continuous Evolution".

The first option is seamless Data Hiway connection to a Honeywell TotalPlant Solution (TPS) system, which maintains full use of the investment in Data Hiway equipment.

By connecting to a TPS system, the customer uses the latest open, NT-based human interface, advanced control platforms, access to a wide variety of advanced control applications, and open access to third-party data and applications.

The ultimate upgrade for a Data Hiway-based system is to install the TPS system's High-performance Process Manager (HPM).

The HPM provides a wide variety of powerful features including expanded peer-to-peer capability, high-density I/O, full support of FOUNDATION Fieldbus-certified devices, I/O (input/output) simulation and expanded point capacity.

Migration packages are available for the Basic Controller, Extended Controller and Multifunction Controller.

These packages maintain all field wiring and terminations, thus reducing the cost and simplifying the upgrade.
