Smart actuators are health-conscious

A Honeywell Control Systems product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Apr 12, 2006

Smart actuators improve process profitability and product quality, as well as featuring fast configuration, responsive positioning and easy access to actuator health information.

HercuLine smart actuators from Honeywell are designed to improve process profitability and product quality, as well as featuring fast configuration, responsive positioning and easy access to actuator health information.

They can even be programmed using a PDA.

HercuLine actuators are ideal for tough applications requiring high reliability, low maintenance and network compatibility, without sacrificing performance or accuracy.

The actuators also minimise maintenance costs and process downtime, due to their slidewire emulator circuit and noncontact position sensor which improves positioning performance by eliminating maintenance tasks, drifts and breakdowns associated with slidewires.

All HercuLine smart actuators feature health monitoring, which accumulates information about actuator operation.

The information then may be used to evaluate and determine predicted or scheduled maintenance periods.

The details include accumulated stall time, exceeded thermal operating rating, number of motor starts in a region of travel, total travel and current actuator travel.
