A range of expansion and threaded inserts are available from the fasteners range by Ondrives of Chesterfield Expansion inserts are the quickest and easiest inserts to install, being simply pushed into a pre-moulded hole

They can be used with plastics or other materials provided that the material is strong enough to withstand the expansion of the insert as the screw locks the external knurls into the wall of the hole.

They provide excellent thread durability.

Also available is a range of thread repair inserts and most inserts are 1.5 x diameter for the length.

The threaded inserts and range thread inserts are also available in kits which have the basic items needed to perform a thread repair or to install inserts for strong new threads in original equipment or components from new.

Range kits include a number of popular sizes.

Recoil helically-wound thread inserts are formed from 18-8 (type 304) stainless steel rhomboid shaped by cold rolling.

The resultant wire in most cases has a tensile strength greater than 200,000 P.S.I.

and a finish better than 32 micro inches, the company states.

Both lightweight and heavy duty series Keensert inserts also encompass part of this range and produce maximum strength and reliability.

They provide mechanical lock against rotation, the insert kees are driven down into the tapped threads of the parent material during installation to securely lock the insert against rotation.

Inserts with internal thread lock are designed to securely lock a bolt when it is entered into the insert only a few turns.

Even after repeated installations and removals of the bolt, the lock maintains sufficient locking torque to prevent the bolt from vibrating out.

With regards to the removal of these inserts, it is unlikely that a Keensert insert will ever have to be removed, since their threads are stronger than the original threads.

If removal is necessary however, they can be removed without causing damage to the parent material and an identical insert can be installed into the original hole, the company states.
