Ondrives of Chesterfield offer an impressive range of drive studs and dowel pins from within their fasteners range

Ondrives of Chesterfield offer an impressive range of drive studs and dowel pins from within their fasteners range The range starts off with hammer drive pins (flat head) made in low carbon steel, available in diameters from 1.4mm to 6mm and lengths from 5mm up to 20mm

They are designed for standard metric hole sizes and installation by hammer or press, and are cold formed pins with helical knurls used to replace screws where the need to remove the pin is unlikely.

Drive studs are made in low carbon steel and as the knurl has to cut it's way into the walls of the hole, they are designed for use with unhardened materials such as mild steel, aluminium, brass and plastics.

Ondrives offer the flat head version only as it is more easily adapted to automated assembly systems.

The dowels range extends to steel taper and extractable taper pins with threads to facilitate removal from blind holes.

The nominal diameter given is always the smaller end.

They are also available in A2 stainless upon request.

By far, the most popular products within this range are the steel and stainless dowel pins.

The DP stainless dowel is A2 as standard and offered in diameters from 0.8mm up to 12mm, with larger diameters available upon request.

Lengths range from 4mm up to a maximum of 100mm.

All Ondrives dowels in this range are manufactured to the "new" ISO 2338A:1997 standard which means the length measured is the exact length, whereas the "old" DIN7 standard measured only between the two domed ends of the dowel - the DIN7 standard is still available should your application require it, please ask sales for a special quote.

Other grades of stainless and tolerances are also available upon request.

A range of A4 stainless dowel pins are also available as standard from the catalogue with the sizes offered ranging from 1.5mm diameter to 8mm and lengths from 6mm up to 50mm and these have rounded ends, not domed as per the A2 range.

The DH dowel pins are hard ground steel to m6 diameter tolerance, ISO 8734 DIN 6325 standard which are functionally interchangeable with the Grade 1 tolerance of the corresponding British standard.

The product in all cases is through hardened to HRC 55-62 for maximum strength and toughness.

Diameters available are from 1.0mm to 20mm and lengths vary from 4mm to 120mm as standard.

Other steel dowels in this range include an extractable version to DIN 7979D m6 tolerance, which have an air release flat ground to the full length of the pin to overcome the problem of reduced retention in blind holes due to trapped air.

A range of full length grooved mild steel pins completes the range along with spring steel dowel bushings.

Dowel bushings are precision rolled bushes designed to eliminate the need for separate dowling where two components have to be located accurately together and fastened with bolts.

They are available for use with bolts from M5 to M12 as standard.
