Ondrives offers a popular range of flexible drive shafts suitable for use in many different applications.

Ondrives offers a popular range of flexible drive shafts suitable for use in many different applications.

This range is available with either ball bearings or oilite bushes as standard.

The high duty version has ball bearings and the normal duty encompasses oilite bushes.

Any length is available to order, but they are standardised for ease of ordering into 500mm increments in 500, 1000, 1500, 2000, 2500 and 3000mm lengths.

As with any flexible drive shaft, there are four main criteria to selecting the most suitable shaft for any application: direction of rotation - clockwise, anticlockwise or bidirectional (this is determined by viewing the shaft from behind the driving end towards the driven end); the flexibility required - the flexible core has a layer of grease for lubrication in operations of continuous usage, eg 8 hours per day; rotational speed - if the speed is less than 200rev/min, or the duty cycle is low and the speed is less than 1000rev/min, then a bidirectional shaft may be selected if preferred; and torque rating - consideration must be given to the stall and startup torque, use the lowest running speed to determine the torque.

It is also worth considering other factors and influences such as the amount of bends, duty cycle, torsional deflection required (or maximum allowable) and environment.

Some of the more popular sizes and lengths are kept in stock, for quick turnaround times.

Other sizes or special lengths can be quoted for on special request.
