Ondrives handbook details metal bellows couplings

An Ondrives product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team May 20, 2009

Ondrives has added a range of metal bellows couplings to its latest product handbook.

Metal bellows couplings offer high torsion stiffness capacities and flexibility, even when high torques have to be transmitted backlash free.

They are able to compensate misalignments between actuation and output shafts caused by production tolerances, with only a minimum of reset force.

Miniature bellows couplings with both set screws and collet clamps, with torque ranges from 0.1 to 10Nm, are available as standard, along with another miniature version complete with an expanding clamp.

Other couplings in the range include those with inner or outer conical hubs and those for flange mounting from 18-5,000Nm torque ranges.

These can encompass large robust versions along with space saving, lightweight miniature couplings for the smallest of shaft diameters.

As the couplings consist of only one part, they can be quickly mounted, especially with the collet clamp version as these only require tightening on one hub.

There are no traces left on the shafts after demounting the coupling and there are no frictional faces during usage, which makes them long lasting and maintenance free.
