Hart seminar is a real eye-opener

A Hart Communication Foundation product story

The Hart Communication Foundation (HCF) is offering a special half-day "Basics of Hart" seminar presented by HCF Chief Engineer Wally Pratt.

In an effort to increase opportunities for industry professionals to learn more about Hart technology, the Hart Communication Foundation (HCF) is offering a special half-day "Basics of Hart" seminar presented by HCF Chief Engineer Wally Pratt.

During a recent tour of Canada, Pratt received enthusiastic response from the nearly 200 representatives of major process industry companies who attended.

Pratt's presentation, "Achieving digital integration using the Hart protocol", offers a unique opportunity to learn about the fundamentals and application of Hart technology, Hart digital communication capabilities, and how to maximise ROI on Hart instruments.

"The big difference between this and other HCF training sessions is who we are talking to", says Pratt.

"Here, we are explaining the technology in clear, concise layman's language using actual application examples and real-world scenarios".

Ian Verhappen, Engineering Associate at Syncrude Canada in Alberta, felt the seminar was a positive learning experience.

"Our people came out of the seminar saying 'Super'.

The maintenance technicians now have a better idea of how we can take advantage of our installed base of Hart technology and where we can go with it in the future".

Pratt's presentation includes a brief introduction to the Hart protocol; digital integration using Hart, the benefits of full-time Hart communication; what to look for in Hart systems; and solutions for using Hart.

"The focus is on things users may know about the Hart technology and the things they may not know about it", says Pratt, "delivered in an easy-to-understand format".

One of the greatest benefits of the seminar is the opportunity to talk with Pratt, the definitive technical expert on the Hart protocol.

Pratt joined the HCF as Chief Engineer in 1994.

His background includes 20-plus years in design of real-time embedded systems and extensive systems integration experience.

As one delegate noted, even people who know virtually nothing about the Hart technology can benefit from attending this seminar: "I found out that all we need is right there.

We already have Hart.

We just have to use it.

This presentation really opened my eyes".
