Rotary gear pump manufacturer Varley Pumps has won significant business in Nigeria and Papua New Guinea, following its enrolment on the UKTI Passport to Export programme.

Rotary gear pump manufacturer Varley Pumps, a division of Hayward Tyler, has won significant business in Nigeria and Papua New Guinea, following its enrolment on the UKTI Passport to Export programme nine months ago.

Since then, it has won five new contracts, including a GBP 25,000 deal for Hyundai in Nigeria and significant business in Papua New Guinea.

Having met the American Petroleum Institute (API) standard, Varley Pumps can be sold as an oil and gas industry-specific pump, allowing the company to focus on specialist markets.

Kevin Greenwell, Director and General Manager said: "We have refined the way we export and can offer quotes in three days instead of the industry average of three weeks".

"We also offer an all-inclusive price to keep the clients' workload down".

"The success of this approach is reflected in our increased sales".

Varley Pumps is now in a strong market position and through targeted marketing research is now well placed to further increase sales in these markets.
