Hayward Tyler has received an order from Aker Kvaerner Subsea for three 2500kW subsea motors for deployment on the Statoil Tyrihans project.

Hayward Tyler has received an order from Aker Kvaerner Subsea for three 2500kW subsea motors for deployment on the Statoil Tyrihans project.

Aker Kvaerner is a leading provider of surface and subsea solutions for the oil and gas industry and have selected Hayward Tyler to supply subsea motors to drive its seawater injection pumps on the Tyrihans project in the Norwegian Sea.

The Aker Kvaerner injection pumps combined with the Hayward Tyler subsea motors will inject raw seawater for pressure support and stabilisation of the oil zone.

The pumps will operate at depths of 285 metres with a 40km step out from the Kirsten platform.

The qualified Hayward Tyler design for the 2500kW variable speed, super synchronous motor will operate at speeds ranging from 2500 to 4000rev/min.

The subsea motors will likewise feature increased insulation of 11kV owing to the electrical challenges of the environment in which they are to operate.

Tony Kenyon, Product and Marketing Development Manager, Oil and Gas at Hayward Tyler, stated: " The Hayward Tyler engineered subsea motor has been developed to incorporate robust technology with simplicity so as to best meet the latest subsea technical challenges of oil exploration".

"This contract award is particularly rewarding given the 'in depth' analysis of the motor design by Statoil - it is a reflection of our engineering capability, and the confidence Aker Kvaerner Subsea and Statoil have in Hayward Tyler".

Hayward Tyler will manufacture the subsea motors in Luton, UK and will be shipped to Tranby, Norway to be incorporated into the Aker Kvaerner package.
