Bharat Heavy Electricals has ordered six glandless motor pumps from Hayward Tyler for APGenco's two new 500MW projects at Vijaywada and Bhoopalapalli in India.

Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL), the largest engineering and manufacturing enterprise in India in the energy-related/infrastructure sector, has ordered six glandless motor pumps from Hayward Tyler for APGenco's (Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corp) two new 500MW projects at Vijaywada and Bhoopalapalli in India.

Jim Woodham, Product and Market Development Manager, Power at Hayward Tyler commented: "A key selection factor for BHEL was the high energy efficiency levels achieved by our glandless motor pumps when benchmarked against our competitors".

"Power consumption has a major effect on the lifetime operating costs of new equipment costs and we are delighted to have been awarded the contract on this basis".

When compared with other suppliers, Hayward Tyler's overall efficiency outperformed one bidder by 9.3% and another bidder by 1.7%.

Hayward Tyler has been supplying boiler circulating pumps to India since 1959 and has been been BHEL's primary supplier of glandless motor pumps for boiler circulating pump duties for the last 20 years.

On completion of this project the total number of Hayward Tyler units installed in the subcontinent will exceed 120.
