Quality of silver and nickel spheres increased

A Hart Coating Technology product story

Novamet has recently refined and modified its manufacturing technology to produce silver-coated nickel spheres of even greater reliability and consistency.

Novamet Specialty Products' electrically conductive silver-coated nickel spheres are suitable for use in a range of high-tech applications.

Typically, these materials are incorporated into nonconductive resin matrices, most frequently silicone elastomers, to produce flexible composite products, such as gaskets, which exhibit excellent electrical conductivity.

Silver-coated nickel spheres are used in applications where the greatest level of electrical performance is required, such as gaskets for EMC shielding and the manufacture of conductive key pads.

The consistent and closely controlled particle size distribution of these products also makes them ideally suited for applications where Z plane conductivity is critical.

Novamet has recently refined and modified its manufacturing technology to produce silver-coated nickel spheres of even greater reliability and consistency.

Two grades of material are currently available - standard and coarse.

The standard grade has a typical d50 of 35 microns whereas the coarse grade is somewhat larger with a d50 in the region of 40 microns.

The high quality and dependability of these improved products will enable designers and engineers to reach the constantly increasing performance requirements of the rapidly changing electronics market.

Hart Coating Technology - the West Midlands based supplier of raw materials for high-technology applications is the official distributor of the full range of Novamet products, including silver-coated nickel spheres.
