HiTek Power will launch the versatile LDD family of laser diode driver modules at Laser 2003 in Munich.

HiTek Power will launch the versatile LDD family of laser diode driver modules at Laser 2003 in Munich The family comprises two power factor corrector input modules and three high-current source output modules that can be used in various combinations to meet a wide variety of needs

For higher-power applications, both the input and output modules can be used in parallel.

The PFC power factor corrector modules provide a stable output of 500 or 1000W and are designed to be used as a supply for the DC/DC-convertor output modules.

They are active filters, suppressing spikes on the input and behaving like a pure ohmic load to the mains.

The wide input range of 100 to 240V AC allows international installation without further adjustments.

Output voltage of both modules is 360V DC.

The HCS output modules are DC/DC convertors rated at 250, 675 and 2500W.

They have been specifically designed to drive valuable laser diodes and incorporate a number of unique protection features, such as protection of the diode from reverse voltage and voltage spikes.

They offer a number of safety features, such as the monitoring of input current, input voltage and board temperature, with a safety shutdown.

The internal controller has been optimised to meet the characteristics of non-linear loads.

Either the output current or an external signal, such as the laser diode output power, can be used as a feedback signal.

The LDD units have been designed to operate high-power diode laser devices for material machining and for pumping Nd:YAG-laser devices.

They are particularly suitable for laser machining methods that require high time resolution.
