Thin walls equal extreme sensitivity on
bellows
Miniature metal bellows manufactured by electro-deposition have been around for more than 40 years, and they still offer several advantages over non-electroform types
The manufacture of miniature metal bellows by electro-deposition was pioneered by the Servometer Corporation more than 40 years ago and today the company continues to be an authority on this technique and a leading supplier of thin-walled electroforms Servometer are now represented in the UK the Huco Engineering Components from whom a comprehensive range of bellows is available that has several advantages over non-electroform types

Coaxial screw rail saves space and cuts costs
Huco's new, integrated lead screw and rail system - Kerk 'S' Rail - is a boon for designers looking for space savings.
Thin walls equal extreme sensitivity, making the Servometer bellows an excellent choice for accurate instrument applications.
They can provide large deflections with minute forces and are up to 25 times more sensitive than hydroformed bellows in the same size range.
Servometer manufactures bellows that can be fully compressed by a force as small as 4g.
They are also the most flexible of bellows, offering superb performance in applications such as hermetic sealing of switches and circuit breakers.
Stroke can be 60% of the Servometer bellows extended length and, combined with a profile which gives a volume displacement capacity equal to or larger than most other types.
Seamless and non-porous, the bellows do not suffer from dust or dirt ingress.
They can be made in sizes smaller than any other bellows - an OD of 0.9mm may be specified without compromising sensitivity or flexibility.
Other types generally lose these characteristics below 6mm.
Servometer bellows have a standard minimum life of 100,000 cycles and can be designed for infinite life expectancy.
The quality of every bellows is assured by helium mass spectrometer leak testing.
Nickel is the standard material of manufacture but should the customer require a bellows suitable for welding or brazing, sulphur-free nickel may be specified.
High compression bellows with stepped grooves, multi-ply or pre-compressed bellows are available.
Varying wall thicknesses on a single part can also be accommodated.
All types can withstand extreme temperatures as low as -200C.
As well as offering superior performance to other types of bellows, the Servometer electro-deposited range is also highly cost competitive.
As tooling is not required for most bellows, a large quantity does not have to be ordered to secure an attractive price. Request a free brochure from Huco Dynatork ...
