Huco Engineering Components has extended its Multi-Beam range, bringing the benefits of precision motion couplings to heavier duty power transmission applications.
Huco Engineering Components has extended its Multi-Beam range, bringing the benefits of precision motion couplings to heavier duty power transmission applications.
Now in sizes up to 64mm diameter, the Multi-Beam couplings can accommodate shaft sizes up to 50mm.
The new stainless steel versions extend the peak torque rating of the range to 140Nm.
Unlike the simple single beam helical coupling, Huco's Multi-Beam has multiple, three-start beams.
This construction affords several design and performance benefits.
First, the stresses induced in the coupling are evenly spread between three beams.
This allows the transmission of more power, size for size, than single beam versions.
Also, as the design is intrinsically balanced, the coupling can be readily adapted to high speeds without the need for balancing.
Other benefits of the Multi-Beam are its single piece construction and zero backlash with low wind-up.
It also has a comparatively long service life as it contains no moving parts or elastomeric elements to wear.
As the Multi-Beam is manufactured in corrosion-resistant materials - stainless steel, aluminium and even acetal - it is ideal for applications in the food and chemical sectors.
Clamp or set-screw fastenings can be supplied with keyways and special bore shapes where required.
