Huco Dynatork offers Thomson BSA components

A Huco Dynatork product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Aug 24, 2009

Huco Dynatork has announced that it is distributing the Thomson BSA range of lead screws and ballscrews.

The introduction of the Thomson BSA range enables Huco Dynatork to provide a lead screw or ballscrew to suit virtually every application, either for immediate dispatch or on short lead times.

It also gives Huco Dynatork customers access to Thomson BSA's rapid prototyping and design consultancy service for custom products.

With lead accuracy to less than 0.25mm/m and straightness to 0.42mm/m Thomson BSA lead screws ensure precision positioning.

They offer a combination of hardness, wear resistance, malleability and machinability.

Their superior surface finish is claimed to reduce wear on the nut in the lead-screw assembly.

Available in imperial and metric diameters from 3/16 to 3in and 6-24mm, in lengths to suit the application and with leads ranging from 0.012 to 2in and 0.3 to 50.8mm, most products are available ex-stock.

A variety of lead-screw nuts complement the lead screws, from standard thread-mount to anti-backlash versions.

These use a stainless-steel cam to ensure the nut halves are constantly in contact with both flanks of the screw thread.

This is achieved without compromising low torque and drag.

As a result every movement is both exact and repeatable.

The lead screws are said to be cost efficient without sacrificing accuracy or strength.

Designed for light or medium-duty applications, the lead-screw assemblies generate less heat and operate more efficiently than their competitors, and are suitable for systems that do not require the characteristics of a ballscrew.

For additional accuracy and driving heavier loads, Huco Dynatork can now offer a solution from the Thomson BSA ballscrew series.

A large choice of diameters and leads is available and if the application requirements cannot be met from the standard range, a special version may be specified.

Precision rolled assembly diameters are from 3/8 to 4in, their miniature counterparts from 4 to 14mm and ground ballscrew assemblies from 16 to 50mm.

The assembly can be tailored to meet precise application needs from a range of options including nuts, return tubes, flanges and wiper kits.

Huco Dynatork can also help customers bring new products to market quickly through the Thomson BSA rapid prototyping service for lead screw and ballscrew assemblies.

Most prototypes can be produced within two weeks and for more standard designs turnaround can be as little as one day.
