MDI variants are easier to store
Huntsman Polyurethanes has released two new diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI) variants in its extensive Suprasec range.
Its TPU solutions are available for injection moulding, extrusion, compounding, adhesives and coatings applications.
The TPU collection demonstrates the versatility and advantages of the complementary Irostic and Irodur product lines which can be used for a variety of applications.
Irostic are high performance adhesive grades found in multiple adhesive applications, such as solvent borne systems, hot melts and as well as additives for reactive adhesive to increase green strength; which is in line with the trend to replace physical fastening techniques, like clamping, nailing and pressing.
Additionally, Irostic can be used as a one component system or as a two component system with the Irodur cross-linkers.
Irodur is a range of polyisocyanates for the cross-linking of adhesives solutions, which are highly reactive to both water and hydroxyl compounds.
Adding Irodur to an Irostic adhesive enhances heat, hydrolysis, oil and chemical resistance of the final adhesive formulation.
"We make continuous improvements to the portfolio in response to industry demands".
"Customer requests are varied ranging from adjusting the overall composition, to enhance properties like water resistance, solubility in adhesive formulations or solvents, adjustments of viscosities or even generally modifying the physico-chemical properties", says Thorsten Gurke, Technical Manager Adhesives and Coatings EAME.
"This allows our high value products to be customised to suit individual needs and to be utilised within a wide variety of demanding applications".
Huntsman Polyurethanes is a world leader in the field of MDI technology with an unparalleled range of products.
It produces chemicals and systems for customers in the construction, refrigeration insulation, packaging, automotive seating and interiors, furniture, footwear, composite wood products, thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPU) and adhesives, coatings and elastomers (ACE) markets.
