Heraeus Sensor-Nite has acquired the platinum thin film sensor product line from the Temperature Sensor Division of ABB Automation Products - previously known as Sensycon.

This division, which will retain its production, sales and customer support operations in Alzenau, Germany, will operate under the name Heraeus Sensor Technology with immediate effect.

Heraeus Sensor-Nite and Heraeus Sensor Technology jointly represent a competence centre within the Heraeus group which is able to deliver a complete range of platinum thin film temperature sensor technologies.

In addition, a new range of thin film microheaters and combined heaters/temperature sensors has been launched to further develop the product range and to offer even more customer oriented products worldwide.

As a result of this acquisition, Heraeus has enhanced its leading position in the world market with a total production of over 13 million platinum temperature sensors a year.
