First Japanese client for refinery
design software
Fuji Oil will be using Hysys.Refinery to help generate high quality Linear Program data for its Crude Fractionation Towers, Fluid Cat Cracker and Continuous Catalytic Reformer
Hyprotech and KBC Advanced Technologies today announced Fuji Oil as the first Japanese client to license Hysys.Refinery Fuji engineers are currently using Hysys.Refinery during the implementation phase of their contract with KBC and plan to use Hysys.Refinery to enhance the generation of data for their Linear Program (LP)

Fuji will be the first company to incorporate this LP Data Generator in their Hysys.Refinery simulation system.
The LP is mathematical model of the refinery used for planning crude purchases, product sales, and process operations.
The LP incorporates a "linear" representation of the complex refinery processes that contains information on how process yields and product properties change as the feed qualities and process operating parameters vary.

Applications allow the design of heat exchangers
Aspen Technology's applications provide engineers with versatile tools for optimising heat exchanger design and simulating their performance.
The complex coefficients for linear equations can be rigorously determined using Hysys.Refinery and the embedded process simulation models.
The LP Data Generator will set the conditions for a series of Hysys.Refinery runs with the attendant changes in product yields and properties expressed as linear functions of the processing conditions.
The user will be able to specify which process variables are to be changed and which product qualities will be related to these variables.
The output will be in a form that can be readily incorporated into their LP model structure.
Jun Inomata, General Manager of Fuji Oil's Operation Management Department, stated: "Hysys.Refinery has been used to monitor our unit operations and allow new unit targets to be set based on the simulation results.
We have changed the operation of our FCCU Gasoline Debutanizer to increase the recovery of butanes.
We will be using Hysys.Refinery to help us generate high quality LP data for our Crude Fractionation Towers, Fluid Cat Cracker (FCC), and Continuous Catalytic Reformer (CCR)." "The quality of refinery LP's can be significantly improved using best practice model structures and data provided from tuned process simulation models.
Hysys.Refinery, the embedded simulation models, and the LP data generation utility places the tools into the hands of the users to develop and maintain high quality data within their LP.
Real changes in plant conditions can now be quickly represented within the operational LP systems that are commonly used in today's refinery planning offices," commented Mark Anderson, KBC's Planning Services Business Line Manager.
