Honeywell Process Solutions has won a contract from Repsol YPF to upgrade its refinery at A Coruna, Spain.

Honeywell Process Solutions has won a contract from Repsol YPF to upgrade its refinery at A Coruna, Spain.

The contract includes Honeywell's TotalPlant solution (TPS) system with Icon operator consoles, high-performance process managers, an FSC fail-safe control system, as well as engineering, on-site services and project management.

The Honeywell automation solution will enable the Repsol YPF refinery to more accurately monitor and control performance to meet European Union clean fuels standards that will be introduced in 2005.

System delivery is scheduled for the first quarter of 2004.

The project incorporates a complete revamp of the refinery's existing TDC2000 Hiway automation solution, which will be migrated to Honeywell high-performance process managers.

Honeywell Spain's Project Engineering group will perform the engineering and implementation services for the project.

Honeywell Industry Solutions has worked with Repsol YPF since 1978 to automate its five refineries in Spain, all of which are connected and controlled by Honeywell TPS systems.

"Our 25-year history with Repsol YPF has proven a valuable one", said Marc Duvall, Honeywell Industry Solutions' Vice President of Energy.

"Our combined knowledge, experience and skills will no doubt provide the basis for yet another successful project at A Coruna".
