Video sequence capture utility for frame grabber

An Image Management Technologies product story

MuTech has added a new video sequence capture utility named MV-500-SEQ to its MV-500 frame grabber series.

MuTech has added a new video sequence capture utility named MV-500-SEQ to its MV-500 frame grabber series.

The MV500-SEQ and its associated framestores are available via Image Management Technologies (IMT) for delivery in the UK at the manufacturer's actual list price.

Aimed at stand-alone applications which want to make use of low-cost frame grabbers such as the MuTech-500 series, the software utility will capture a video sequence to either system memory, or more importantly, direct to the computer's hard drive.

The software can run under Windows 95/98, NT, 2000 or XP.

It will acquire data from both standard Pal, CCIR, NTSC and RS170 cameras, and also from nonstandard cameras when used with the MV-510 frame grabber.

The software includes features such as: preview of live video in a scaled grab window; user-defined storage resolutions; and a range of supported file formats, including TIFF, BMP, TGA and RAW.

Depending on which of the pixel and file formats, recording and monitoring options that are specified, the utility will report back the maximum data rate at which it is able to record.

Nick Hewitson, Managing Director of IMT, explained: "Many applications using imaging require a video sequence to be captured and downloaded to a PC for subsequent processing examples include CCTV, medical imaging and machine control and maintenance.

In many of these applications the loss of data due to the use of a compression algorithm would be unacceptable.

However the amount of data stored in even a very short video sequence is usually beyond the capability of the computer's system RAM to store.

The MV-500 SEQ offers the ability to store the sequence directly on the computer's hard disk or into system RAM.

In response to these requirements MuTech has released its latest video sequence capture utility".
