Icona Solutions is now shipping Aesthetica Desktop, Version 1.0 (Aesthetica DT v1.0).
Aesthetica provides automotive vehicle design and manufacturing engineers with a unique suite of software tools for visualising the impact of production variations on the aesthetic quality of the interior and exterior of new vehicles, early in the design process.
For the first time, engineers can use high quality virtual prototypes, rather than expensive full-scale physical model stacks, to visually assess whether or not their products will continue to meet agreed aesthetic quality targets during the manufacturing and assembly processes.
Using Aesthetica, engineers are able to create interactive, high quality visualisations of non-nominal products, to visually and accurately inspect worst/best case scenarios, to take live gap and flush measurements on Class A surfaces and to conduct studies on assemblies that contain both rigid and flexible components.
In addition, Aesthetica enables realistic aesthetic targets to be set and for the design to be reviewed against them as it evolves, for gap and flush visibility across a range of different trim levels to be explored and for aesthetics to be evaluated within a virtual recreation of a real inspection environment.
Enthusiastically received by automotive industry insiders who have seen it, Aesthetica is the result of a development collaboration between leading automotive industry OEMs, their Tier 1 suppliers and Icona Solutions.
It can provide a rapid return on investment (ROI) - often within the lifetime of a single project - by providing engineers with greater insight, early in the design process, of the effects of production variations on product quality.
