Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Apr 6, 2006

Developer of real-time digital 3D assembly model tolerances simulation and visualisation software suite joins JT Open Program as a vendor member.

Icona Solutions, developer of the real-time digital 3D assembly model tolerances simulation and visualisation software suite, Aesthetica, has joined the JT Open Program as a vendor member.

The JT Open Program is a global community of manufacturers, software suppliers and academic institutions with the common goal of promoting the on-going development and proliferation of the 3D JT data format as the common language for product lifecycle management (PLM).

Developed by UGS, the JT data format is the widely-adopted 3D data format used throughout the global manufacturing industry to enable product visualisation, collaboration and data sharing.

"The reliable transfer of 3D product model data, along with the data from dimensional and positional tolerance analysis runs, are essential to the successful use of our Aesthetica software suite in the process of ensuring the optimum fit and finish of automotive vehicle assemblies and subassemblies", said John Maxfield, Technical Director, Icona Solutions.

"Membership in JT Open and our use of the JT format will help to ensure this reliable data transfer".

Chris Kelly, VP of Partner and Platform Marketing for UGS, said: "UGS welcomes Icona Solutions into the ever expanding JT Open Program".

"As quality software developers such as Icona continue to join the other global leaders already involved in JT Open, the entire global manufacturing industry benefits from new, JT-enabled applications that help promote a worldwide standard for the sharing of 3D product data".
