Safexpert is a complete software solution for manufacturers, planners and designers of plant/machinery, providing hazard assessments for plant and machinery, safety engineering and project management.

IBF has been at the forefront of CE standard conformity (Machine Directive 98/37/EC) and Risk assessment issues within the plant and machinery manufacturing industry since 1994, and is the name behind the leading CE standard conformity software Safexpert Safexpert is the complete software solution for manufacturers, planners and designers of plant and machinery, providing hazard assessment for plant and machinery, organized safety engineering and project management with clear and comprehensive standards and directives administration

In addition, IBF is able to offer the "Check and Acceptance Assistant" software module specifically designed for administrative bodies, technical purchasing agents as well as plant and machinery customers.

Austrian based IBF has been closely involved with the Machinery Directive and its implications for plant and machinery manufacturers since the early 1990's, and has established itself as a leading authority in CE conformity assessment issues.

What began as a small consultancy service is now a growing and very active business providing Safexpert (IBF's own CE conformity software) training programmes, practice-orientated seminars on topics including efficient CE marking for plant and machinery, hazard identification, risk assessment, and machine safety.

A team of internal and external experts in the field of CE conformity and machine safety ensure that IBF's customers receive the best possible help in CE matters.

In addition, IBF has developed the highly successful software known to the industry as Safexpert.

IBF's managing director Helmut Frick realised the need for software, which would assist designers of plant and machinery in carrying out the CE certification conformity process simply and efficiently.

His background, as a design engineer (control and safety design of plant and machinery) with a leading specialized metals manufacturer, and then as a CE consultant in Europe highlighted the challenges encountered when applying the requirements of the Machinery Directive.

"Judging by the feedback we receive at our seminars today, the Machinery Directive still causes confusion and uncertainty".

"A confusion and uncertainty that is unnecessary when Safexpert is used", commented Frick.

He added, "I firmly believe that it is critical for manufacturers to implement safety considerations from early on in the design process, so as to avoid costly modifications which might lead to a loss of market share, or worst, force a manufacturer into bankruptcy".

"In fact, Safexpert offers the manufacturer an enormous organisational and safety advantage".

Safexpert, which is now available in three special packages (Basic, Compact or Professional according to user requirements) supports the user with the CE mark conformity process in a clear 7 step procedure.

With its user-friendly interface and transparent menu structure, Safexpert reduces the time required to complete the certification process.

Extensive checklists help to compile the Technical Documentation and ensure that nothing is accidentally overlooked, while detailed search functions enable key texts to be located quickly, and direct links provide fast access to directives and Harmonised Standards.

It also offers full network availability which ensures that different departments working on the same project have joint access to the latest version of all necessary project documentation.

A new software module for Safexpert is the "Check and Acceptance Assistant" which simplifies the task of accepting and commissioning plant and machinery.

It was designed to assist among others; plant and machinery manufacturers, public authorities, acceptance and commissioning agents, quality control managers, purchasing managers and insurance organisations.

As proof of its capability, the TUV Rheinland Group recently certified it in recognition of its usefulness to industry.

"Our Check and Acceptance Assistant is a response to specific industry requests for a software that simplifies the commissioning and acceptance of plant and machinery and it enhances the capabilities of Safexpert", added Frick.

Safexpert's success within the German speaking markets is now being repeated across the globe with customers in Asia, the Middle East, the Americas as well as mainland Europe.
