Plating system avoids the use of cadmium
The new TTHT plating system from Icore has been specifically developed to inhibit the corrosion of aluminium and brass components in tough aerospace, maritime and military environments
The new TTHT plating system from Icore International, which has been specifically developed to inhibit the corrosion of aluminium and brass components in tough aerospace, maritime and military environments, is not only over 300% more effective than cadmium plating in preventing corrosion, but is also entirely free from the adverse environmental impact which is now associated with the use of cadmium TTH plating, which is featured on many of Icore International's high-performance electrical interconnect products, is based on the plating of nickel onto the component to be protected

The TTHT plating system greatly eases the task of providing effective and durable corrosion protection for brass and aluminium components, while adhering to environmental requirements.
PTFE hose resistance to over 230 substances listed
Icore's lightweight and stainless-steel braided convoluted PTFE hoses are suitable for use with media, including oxygen, potable water, chemicals, fuel, hot oil, coolant and hydraulic fluid
Sprung contact elements simplify connector design
The design of high-current electrical connectors can be made much easier by using the strip-form Band 8 and Band 12 sprung contact elements from interconnect specialist Icore International
The unique plating method used results in the deposition of a continuous protective coating.
In contrast, conventional nickel plating invariably produces a porous coating which is relatively easily penetrated by corrosive agents.
In conventional salt-spray (fog) tests, the corrosion resistance of TTH plating has been shown to be more than 2,000 hours, while salt and sulphuric acid stack gas tests have proved TTH plating to be at least 600% more effective than cadmium plating in preventing corrosion.
Performance in real-life applications is, however, even more impressive, with TTH-plated components typically achieving six times the life of their cadmium-plated equivalents.
Further benefits of Icore International's new TTH plating include superior abrasion and impact resistance, which mean that the plating resists damage even in adverse operating conditions.
Its electrical conductivity is at least as good as conventional nickel/cadmium plating and, with an operating temperature range of -65 C to 260 C, TTH plating is eminently suitable for use on components which will be used in cyclic-temperature applications.
Part of the Smiths Group, Icore International is a leading innovator in the development and manufacture of electrical interconnect and fluid transfer products.
The company has unrivalled expertise in designing and supplying products for use in safety-critical applications and extreme operating environments, and focuses strongly on addressing the special needs of the aerospace and defence sectors.
TTH is a trade mark of Icore International.
