For Icore's customers, the ISO14001 award has important benefits.
These include confirming Icore as a source of environmentally friendly products which help users to meet their own environment-related objectives.
In addition, Icore is placing the knowledge and experience it has gained during the approval process at the disposal of its customers and suppliers, giving them access to a source of proven, practical advice on environmental matters.
Icore itself is also benefiting as a result of the work carried out to achieve ISO14001 approval.
For example, the proportion of the large volume of water used on the Slough site, which is recycled, has now been boosted to over 90%, resulting in significant cost savings.
These savings, and others achieved as part of the ISO14001 process, are helping the company to maintain its competitive position and, therefore, to provide its customers with attractive pricing.
"It's very gratifying to see how quickly caring for the environment has become part of the Icore culture", said David Bayliss, leader of the ISO14001 project.
"Employees at all levels responded rapidly and enthusiastically to our environmental initiatives, and it's no exaggeration to say that, throughout the organisation, adopting environmentally friendly methods of working has now become virtually instinctive".
