Roadshow seminars showcase new software
solutions
A new roadshow seminar series addresses the needs of automotive vehicle stylists and industrial designers, automotive vehicle surfacing engineers and mechanical design engineers.
A new roadshow seminar series addresses the needs of automotive vehicle stylists and industrial designers, automotive vehicle surfacing engineers and mechanical design engineers Featuring demonstrations of ICEM's latest developments in software solutions for the product concept modelling and styling workflow, as well as reverse engineering and design visualisation, the road-show series will commence in late September
It will visit seven locations in Germany, France, Italy and Spain before moving on to the USA in late October/early November.
With each seminar lasting just half a day, sessions have been designed to appeal either to industrial designers and automotive stylists or to automotive vehicle surfacing and mechanical design engineers.
Intended for stylists and designers and entitled "Real-time modelling and visualisation in automotive styling and industrial design", the first series of seminars will concentrate on the concept design, sketching, 3D modelling and design visualisation phases of the product design workflow.
Using the new ICEM Style software, demonstrations and group discussion will centre on the benefits of being able to design in a real-time photorealistic visualisation and modelling environment and the software's data compatibility with downstream Class A surface engineering software tools.
Entitled "New developments in reverse engineering", the second series of seminars is intended for design engineers with responsibility for developing accurate digital surface models from existing physical objects for further development.
Including live demonstrations of digitising technology, these sessions will feature the new, stand-alone ICEM RevEng software package.
Demonstrations and group discussion will concentrate on the software's ability to handle data in a variety of formats and from a wide range of other vendors' scanning and engineering CAD systems and will include the generation of a 3D digital surface model using "quick surfacing" and traditional surfacing methods.
The third series of seminars is entitled "Enhancing the design process through virtual design review", and is aimed at design engineers and departments with responsibility for creating visualisations of digital models for review purposes.
Designed to provide an insight into the generation of photorealistic images and the preparation of sophisticated design reviews, including the use of virtual studio environments, lighting and animation, these sessions will feature the new, stand-alone ICEM Vis software product.
Demonstrations will include the preparation and application of materials and textures, the use of shadows and reflections and real-time rendering techniques.
They will also include the use of static ray-tracing technology and the export facility to the ICEM Viewer product for easy access to visualisations over the Internet or intranet.
Full details of the roadshow dates and venues, including how to register as a delegate, are available on the ICEM website.
Attendance is free of charge to qualifying designers and engineers.
